And Baby Makes 800!
Six-month-old Edna Acedo was the 800th patient to receive a heart transplant through UMC's Cardiothoracic Transplant Program, June 27.
Retirement Party
Fred Heidenreich, MLS, MEd, celebrated his retirement after 36 years as a librarian at the AHS Library, where he directed the work of the library's reference services department for many years.
Hoops
Radiology took top honors in the UMC-sponsored Doctors Hoops Tournament, June 16. The top three teams also included Family Practice (2nd) and Psychiatry - Neurology (3rd).
SIMI Reunion
Marlys Witte, MD, professor of surgery and director of the College's Summer Institute on Medical Ignorance (SIMI) Research Programs for High School Students and K-12 Science Teachers, talked to past participants in the programs at a reunion July 16.
A Dream Come True
A "Dream Tree Loft," donated to Steele Children's Research Center, was installed in UMC's pediatric playroom June 15.

Trauma Team
A UMC trauma team, led by Rifat Latifi, MD, interim chief of trauma and critical care, with Michelle Ziemba, UMC director of trauma services, was shadowed at the hospital July 12 for a story in the Tucson Citizen.
