Dr. Dahl Named Director of Human Subjects Protection Program

Rebecca Dahl, PhD, RN, was named director of the UA Human Subjects Protection Program (formerly Human Subjects Committee). Prior to coming to the UA, Dr. Dahl was clinical research coordinator at Pima Research Foundation and site director/manager of the Community Nursing Organization at Carondelet Health Network. She has been a member of the adjunct faculty at the UA College of Nursing since 1995.

“Dr. Dahl was chosen based on her outstanding qualifications and experience, both of which will benefit the enhancement of the University’s human subjects protection effort that we began last year,” says UA Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies Richard C. Powell, PhD. “Her expertise includes developing and implementing ongoing education programs, reviewing research protocols and events for clinical trials, and directing and monitoring research activities.”

“I look forward to working with researchers at the University of Arizona,” says Dr. Dahl. “We will be striving to continually improve the Human Subjects Protection Program and to provide greater accessibility to administration, faculty and staff. We have the administrative support to ensure that the highest standards with regards to the protection of human subjects are being met.”

Presently, Dr. Dahl is a member of the board of directors of the UA College of Nursing and has served on the College’s alumni board of directors. She also sits on the Institutional Review Board at Carondelet Health Network.

Dr. Dahl received a doctorate degree in clinical nursing research/family psychology from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in mental health nursing from the UA and a BSN from the UA.

Her numerous awards and accolades include the 2000 Sigma Theta Tau International Excellence in Research Award and the 1995 Carondelet Excellence in Research Award.
