UA Medical Graduates Get `Matched' to Residencies


UA medical students of the Class of 2003 recently celebrated Match Day, a traditional date in which they receive sealed envelopes that contain letters showing where they will spend the next several years as resident physicians. The Class of 2003 includes 93 graduates -- 35 of whom stayed in Arizona for a residency.
Courtney Mitchell learns she will spend a transitional year at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, to then return to UA Affiliated Hospitals to complete a residency in ophthalmology.
Matthew Berman (above, right) learns he will be going to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass. Sharing the news with him is Achyut K. Bhattacharyya, MD, associate department head, Department of Pathology.
Meher Best "matched" to Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, where he will complete a residency in emergency medicine.
Georgine Tsingine will be going to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix and specialize in family practice.
