AHSC PEOPLE ON THE MOVE
Keith A. Joiner, MD, MPH, dean of the College of Medicine, received the Cure Award at the American Diabetes Association annual Cure, Care and Commitment Award Gala in Tucson March 25, in recognition of his initiative to expand diabetes treatment in Tucson.

Heddwen L. Brooks, PhD, assistant professor in physiology and a BIO5 faculty member, was named the American Physiological Society's New Investigator, Renal Section, for 2006. Dr. Brooks' research focuses on the molecular regulation of the kidney, with emphasis on diseases such as diabetes.

Tracey Kurtzman, MD, has joined UPH and the faculty of the UA Department of Pediatrics as assistant professor, clinical pediatrics.
Dr. Kurtzman completed medical school at the UA and residency at the University of Virginia. She has interests in childhood obesity, congenital heart disease and adolescent medicine.

Lu Maselli, RN, UMC transplant coordinator, has been named lead transplant coordinator for the Abdominal Transplant Program.
