of the Arizona Cancer Center, accepted a statewide position as director of the AHSC
Cancer Therapeutics Program.
In his new position, which was effective Aug. 17, Dr. Von Hoff will coordinate the many AHSC cancer research and therapy programs throughout Arizona. In addition, this position is designed to facilitate AHSC's emerging collaborations with Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, the International Genomics Consortium and the newly formed Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). |
Raymond Nagle, MD, PhD, will serve as Interim Director of the Arizona Cancer Center while a nationwide search for a new director takes place, according to Kenneth Ryan, MD, Interim Dean of the UA College of Medicine.
"Dr. Von Hoff's leadership in advancing new cancer treatments for patients has been recognized worldwide," says Raymond L. Woosley, MD, PhD, UA vice president for health sciences. "AHSC and Arizona are very fortunate to have Dan in this new leadership role."
Dr. Von Hoff says he is excited about the new opportunity. "I feel privileged to have been director of the Arizona Cancer Center for the past four years," he says. "This new position will enable me to bring together the broad expertise in cancer therapy in Arizona and to get back to being a full-time investigator. This program is a wonderful opportunity for the AHSC team to partner with other scientists in Arizona to attack cancer with our very best science."
