Department of Pediatrics,MEZCOPH Receive Federal Grants


The Department of Pediatrics and the UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) each have received five-year grant funding from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration.

The $1.5 million grant awarded to the Department of Pediatrics will support the UA Pediatric Pulmonary Center (UAPPC) as it continues to train health professionals to better manage asthma, cystic fibrosis and other respiratory illnesses in children.

MCHB has awarded $1.8 million to the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health. The grant will fund enhancements to a training program that aims to reduce health disparities in mothers and their children, supporting a program for graduate students and health professionals at the College. In addition, the money will fund continuing-education efforts for maternal and child health programs in 10 states, including Arizona, and will support faculty development at MEZCOPH by providing funds for travel and seminars.
