Welcome to MEDCAMP! We're glad you're here. This evening you'll meet the other MEDCAMP students and the medical student mentors. We'll get a group photograph and have a casual dinner. Afterwards we'll have a brief orientation on careers in the health sciences so we're all at the same starting point when we begin our tours and lectures Tuesday morning.

Get a good night's sleep. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes tomorrow. For safety reasons, please don't wear flip-flops or open-toed sandals because we'll be visiting some laboratories.

Today you'll get acquainted with the Arizona Health Sciences Center and some of the many careers available in the health sciences. We'll hear from a multitude of health professionals including a trauma surgeon, neonatal nurse, pharmacist, bioengineer and others - don't be shy about asking questions! On our tours you'll practice anesthesiology and visit the OR. You'll learn that health care is a high-tech profession. But compassion and empathy for others are essential, too.
