The 12th Annual Lute Olson Celebrity Auction is scheduled Thursday, April 22, 5:30-9:30 p.m., at the Marriott University Park Hotel, 880 E. Second St.
Participants will bid on a variety of sports memorabilia, four days at Canyon Ranch, artwork, vacation packages and much more, including "terrific prizes in the silent auction room," according to organizers. They also can bid on playing a round of golf with Coach Olson and many of his Basketcats in a celebrity golf tournament scheduled Saturday.
The auction will benefit the Arizona Arthritis Center, a Center of Excellence at The University of Arizona College of Medicine; the event is presented by Desert Diamond Casino and is made possible by the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA). Thanks to SAHBA's hard work and generous sponsorship, more than $1 million has been raised in the last 11 years for the Arizona Arthritis Center. For the past 11 years, Coach Olson and his team have helped the Arizona Arthritis Center raise funds through the celebrity auction and golf tournament. Coach Olson also serves as an honorary member of the Arizona Arthritis Center Advisory Board.
The Arizona Arthritis Center enjoys an international reputation for innovative medical, surgical and basic science programs, bringing together allied health professionals in a focused approach to combat arthritis, bone and connective tissue diseases.
