Trauma remains the third-leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of disability in young Americans. Advancements in trauma systems, treatment protocols, technology and training have made an impact on this challenging problem, but injury still remains the greatest silent epidemic of modern society. Hundreds of professionals will gather at the 13th Annual Southwest Regional Trauma Conference to help combat this major problem. The University of Arizona Department of Surgery, Section of Trauma, and the Southern Arizona Trauma Network (SATNET) organized this annual event, in cooperation with University Medical Center and Tucson Medical Center.
