The Societies Program of ArizonaMed: Putting Patients First

ArizonaMed, the new curriculum implemented at The University of Arizona College of Medicine in 2006, represents major changes in medical education at the UA. A key component is the Societies Program. With an emphasis on clinical interaction, the program groups five or six medical students with a physician-mentor and provides bedside experience from the first day of class. View the video >>   

The Video Slam Project

Documentary video-making is among the newest teaching tools at the College of Medicine. In the Video Slam Project, launched in 2006, second-year medical students experienced the challenges of living with chronic illness as they came to know patients and their families who are coping with head injury, cancer, diabetes and AIDS. The four short videos they created are slated for viewing by other medical students as part of the College curriculum. View the video >>
