Beginning this summer, people with cancer,
infertility, autoimmune illness and other life-threatening or chronic
conditions will be able to learn techniques for coping and healing through
a new Mind-Body Medicine Skills Group Program offered at The University of
Arizona Health Sciences Center, The comprehensive 12-week program will teach
proven ways to decrease stress through educational discussions,
experiential techniques and a facilitator-run support group. The program
will address scientific evidence for mind-body medicine, emotional
awareness, belief systems about illness, spiritual connection and other
areas related to optimal health. Participants will learn several
stress-reducing strategies, from relaxation and imagery techniques to
gentle yoga exercises. Through group support, they will find renewed
purpose and a safe setting for transforming their lives.
