Arizona Applicant
Academy, a new summer program at The University of Arizona College of
Medicine in
Designed to improve students’
competitiveness in the medical school application process, the program will be
held Friday, June 30, through Sunday July
2, on the UA Campus in
The Academy will address the overall UA
College of Medicine admission process and common issues encountered by
applicants. Topics will include developing a personal statement, tips for
preparing for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and interview
strategies.
“Arizona Applicant Academy activities are
beneficial for students who are the first in their families to attend college or
pursue a career in medicine, who are of an ethnic minority group that is
under-represented in medicine, who are from medically-underserved rural or urban
communities, or who are educationally or economically disadvantaged,” says
Linda K. Don, director, UA Office of Minority Affairs. The
program grew out of the Summer Medical Education Program, previously held each
summer at the UA College of Medicine.
The UA Office of Minority Affairs offers other medical
school application-related support services; for more information, call (520)
